Fall 2025 Assess/Observe Week

It’s time for Fall 2025 Assessment Week…with a twist.

For November 2025, we are replacing our Assessment Week with a second Observation Week.  While teachers may also be assessing students this week, we will not be processing our usual detailed assessments and report cards this term.

Instead, we are offering a second opportunity to watch your children in their classes this term.

This is mainly due to our ongoing transition to a new studio management system which should be online in January, 2026.  This new all-Canadian system will provide a much more customer-friendly interface, as well as far more advanced back-office automation and in particular, a far simpler, less time-consuming assessment and report card process.

Our Fall 2025 Assessment Week occurs in the last week of November.  We hold Assessment Weeks twice each year: once in the Fall Term and once in the Winter Term.  Teachers formally assess students based on defined skill sets for each class.

Fraser Valley Academy of Dance has developed its own syllabus for each grade and dance style.  In ballet, while the syllabus incorporates the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, it expands greatly on that book-based training to include the more advanced techniques taught by former professional dancers at the Vaganova Academy, Cecchetti and Royal Ballet Schools.  In modern theatre dance, the syllabus of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is incorporated with more advanced techniques to provide challenging and flexible skill sets.
