The Pre-Professional Academy prepares students for professional dance careers with training by former professional classical ballet dancers. Students are assisted with preparations to audition for ballet company schools.
For the most serious dance student or future teacher, the Pre-Professional Academy (PPA) provides highly specialized training in ballet, pointe, variations, repertoire, boys’ virtuosity, pas de deux, dance history, music appreciation, modern theatre dance, musical theatre, and contemporary ballet.
PPA students perform in The Nutcracker, the Surrey Festival of Dance, and our Annual Performances, as well as community events throughout the year such as collaborations with Calvin Dyck’s Abbotsford Youth Orchestra and Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra.
PPA students have an exceptional opportunity to be trained by an international staff of former professional dancers from such companies as:
- English National Ballet
- Rambert Dance Company
- David Massingham Company
- English National Opera
- Volgograd Youth Theatre
- Volgograd Theatre Of Musical Comedy

Junior & Senior Academy Programs
Students wishing to prepare for the Pre-Professional Academy may begin training in the Junior and Senior Academy programs, starting at Ballet 2.
Students are individually invited to attend Academy Master Class with Mr. Carney for additional preparation for the Pre-Professional Academy at levels 7-10. Upon enrolling in the required classes for each level, invited students are then enrolled in the Academy Program.
Students in all Academy levels perform in the Nutcracker in December, the Surrey Festival of Dance in the Spring, and our Annual Performances in June.
Academy classes include audition preparation, behind-the-scenes at ballet company schools, the life of a professional dancer, and many more aspects of the classical ballet and contemporary dance world.
