It’s time for Fall Assessments 2017

Our Fall Assessments 2017 take place in all classes this week. FVAD organizes Assessment Weeks twice each year: once in the Fall Term and once in the Winter Term. Teachers formally assess students based on defined skill sets for each class.

Fraser Valley Academy of Dance has developed its own syllabus for each grade and dance style. In ballet, while the syllabus incorporates the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, it expands greatly on that book-based training to include the more advanced techniques taught by former professional dancers at the Vaganova Academy and Royal Ballet Schools. In tap and modern theatre dance, the syllabus of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is incorporated with more advanced techniques to provide challenging and flexible skill sets.

Report cards are emailed (or mailed if no email is on account) to all students by the start of the next term.

Our Fall Assessments identify any difficulties students may be having, alert parents to issues such as lack of knowledge resulting from absences, and also confirm selected students for more advanced training. The subsequent Winter Assessments will place students into Pre-Approved classes for the next school year.
