Ballet Intensive Levels I-III

Ballet Intensives offer students an opportunity to expand on their dance training with additional exposure to professional performance skills such as balletic mime, stage make-up and choreography. Students have a wonderful opportunity to work directly with choreographers, experiencing first-hand the creative process that is involved in the development of dance.

Our summer intensives enable students to train with former professional dancers, strengthening technique and enhancing artistry.  Students study the highly advanced art of Classical Ballet from the British Royal Ballet School and Russian Vaganova Academy, as well as Modern Theatre Dance, Jazz, Contemporary Ballet, Character Class, Dance History, Stage Make-up, Balletic Mime, Repertoire, Gymnastique, Floor Barre, and Choreography (*class selection varies per week)

Each session (July and August) runs for 2 weeks with specific focus for each week, and a costumed Showcase Presentation on the final Saturday.  Students may take one week or both weeks, however additional performance opportunities will be available to students enrolled in both weeks of a session.

Week 1 – Technique plus Solos & Variations

Week 1 concentrates on strengthening technique, perfecting presentation and enhancing the artistry essential for an excellent performance.  All students will learn a classical variation and a contemporary or modern solo to perform in their upcoming competition season (for students joining us from other studios), or simply to add to their repertoire.

Private and semi-private lessons are also available for students wishing to further develop their solo performance, or to learn an additional solo.  Additional fees apply.

Week 1 ends with a demonstration performance class for Family & Friends on Friday afternoon.  Students enrolling in both weeks of the session may also perform their solos at the Showcase Presentation.

Week 2 – Technique plus Choreography & Repertoire

Week 2 concentrates on advancing technique and artistry while working directly with choreographers developing new works.  All students have the opportunity to learn challenging choreography, both new and existing repertoire, in a variety of dance styles to perform at the final Showcase Presentation.

Private and semi-private lessons are also available for students wishing to learn a classical, contemporary or modern solo to take back to their own studios for their upcoming competitive season, or simply to improve their dance quality and repertoire.  Additional fees apply.

Week 2 ends with a costumed performance for Family & Friends on Saturday morning, allowing students to showcase their accomplishments and improvements achieved in the session.  Students enrolled in both weeks of a session may have additional performance opportunities.
