FVAD launches Academy Homestay Program

As part of the new FVAD International Student Program, we are very excited to announce the launch of the Academy Homestay Program.

With support from both Mission and Abbotsford School Districts, the Academy Homestay Program places international students, as well as out-of-town Canadian students who apply to train with us, with like-minded families who are connected to FVAD.  This allows us to be sure that each homestay family already understands and supports the commitment and dedication required for our students’ training.  It also ensures that our homestay families provide our visiting students with the most suitable dietary, emotional and cultural support.

FVAD families (present or past) who are interested in becoming a homestay family should submit the Academy Homestay – Host Family Application Form.  Visit our International Student Program page to view the form and for additional information being updated regularly.

There are three levels of homestay students who will train with us:

1. Summer students training with us during July and/or August with no academics
2. Short-term study students who will also attend academic school for up to 6 months
3. Long-term study students who will also attend academic school for up to 10 months (may include summer sessions)

For the present time, short-term and long-term study students will be attending school in Abbotsford.  Potential homestay families can live in any area as long as they understand that their commitment involves driving students to school in Abbotsford in the morning, and then collecting them from FVAD in the afternoon/evening, as well as driving to and from FVAD on the weekends and other days as needed.   FVAD already offers Pre-Professional Academy students lunch-time pick-up.
